2004 Stallion Nomination

Dear Stallion Owner,

It's that time of year again!!! The Sired Stakes committee is getting ready to advertise all of our eligible stallions for the 2004 breeding season, and want you and your stallion on board. We plan on starting to advertise in January, so please, let us know of your commitment to the program as soon as possible. We will require a full page advertisement of your horse, or if you prefer us to make up the ad, a photo, 3 generation traceback and the information you want included in an ad.

The Sired Stakes Committee has a dedicated group of volunteers who will be getting stallion advertising out in as many venues as possible. This program is an added benefit to your customers who breed to your stallion or buy his offspring, as only they are eligible to compete in the Sired Stakes Futurity.

The Ontario Reining Horse Association's SIRED STAKES division of the Futurity was established in 1999. The main objective of this program is to satisfy the goals of the Stallion Owners, Breeders and Competitors by providing an opportunity to compete for large purses as 2 and 3 year olds. The 2003 Sired Stakes Futurity paid out in excess of $17,000 in cash and prizes for the foals of Sired Stakes stallions. Stallion Owners and Breeders need to be aware that to be able to compete in this Futurity the Stallion must be paid up the year that the mare is bred. There is no late fee mechanism to retroactively make foals eligible.

Stallion Owners who nominate their stallion receive advertising, one free foal nomination and 10% of their offspring's earnings. For the year 2003, 20 stallions were nominated. The stallion owners received a total of $1,400 in prize monies over and above that paid to competitors.

Breeders have the opportunity to pay a one time foal nomination of $50. There is no other payment due until the entry fee on the day of the show. Nominations are skyrocketing, with over 47 Weanlings, 62 Yearlings and 46 2 year olds as of Dec 1, 2003.

Stallion Nomination Fees are as follows : Total payment of $600 if nominated between January 1, 2004 and June 1, 2004. This is payable In $200 amounts : Feb 1/04, April 1/04 and June 1/04. Postdated cheques are encouraged. If you wait, then from June 2/04 until July 15/04 the fee increases to $700. On or after July 16 the fee is $800 and may be paid up until the start of the first futurity class.

Please send your advertising and payment to Lynne McDougall, 1311 Cty Rd 22, RR#1 Grafton, On K0K 2G0. Telephone 905-349-2185. You are encouraged to contact Dave McNiece at dave@afamousamos.com, Pam Grant at pam.grant@sympatico.ca or Lynne McDougall at llmcd@eagle.ca.

The committee welcomes your input. This is your program!
