2010 Stallion Nomination Form Information

Dear Stallion Owner,
It's that time of year again!!! The Sired Stakes committee is getting ready to advertise all of our eligible stallions for the 2010 breeding season, and want you and your stallion on board. Please let us know of your commitment to the program as soon as possible. A full page advertisement of your horse needs to be emailed directly to our websmaster at webmaster@orha.on.ca.  There is a link on the ORHA website where your ad will be posted as soon as it is received.

The Sired Stakes Committee is a dedicated group of volunteers who will make an effort to promote your stallion. This program is an added benefit to your customers who breed to your stallion or buy his offspring, as only they, are eligible to compete in the Sired Stakes Futurity and Derby.

The Ontario Reining Horse Association's SIRED STAKES division of the Futurity was established in 1999. The main objective of this program is to satisfy the goals of the Stallion Owners, Breeders and Competitors by providing an opportunity to compete for large purses as 2 and 3 year olds in the Futurity plus the Derby divisions.

The estimated purse for the 2010 Futurity, based on 2009 entries, is $18,000 and $21,000 for the Derby including Lawson Bronze Trophies.  Additional fund raising will be added to the estimates. Stallion Owners and Breeders need to be aware that to be able to compete in this Futurity the Stallion must be paid up the year that the mare is bred. The weanling payment must be made to avoid late penalties.

Stallion Owners who nominate their stallion receive advertising, one free foal nomination and 10% of their offsprings= earnings.  Anyone can nominate a stallion if the owner chooses not to.  The person or persons nominating a stallion would then receive the free nomination and the 10% of the offsprings= earnings. A Morrison Bronze trophy will be presented to the person or persons that have nominated the stallion whose offspring have earned the most money at the Futurity.

Breeders have the opportunity to pay a one time weanling nomination of $75. There is no other payment due until the entry fee on the day of the Futurity show.

Stallion Nomination Fees are as follows: Total payment of $600 if nominated and paid between January 1, 2010 and June 1, 2010. This is payable In $200 amounts : Feb 1/10, April 1/10 and June 1/10. Post-dated cheques are welcomed.  June 2/10 until August 1/10, the fee will increase to $700.  August 2/10 until the start of the first Futurity class is $800. To be included in any advertisement, please send $200 as soon as possible.

Please send your payment to Lynne McDougall, 1311 Cty Rd 22, Grafton, On K0K 2G0 Telephone 905-349-2185. You are encouraged to contact Ken Vanalstine  at vanalstinereininghorses@cogeco.ca , Pam Grant at pam.grant@sympatico.ca  or Lynne McDougall at sliderriderca@gmail.com

Thank you for your belief and continued support of this program.  More stallions equals bigger payouts equals a market for our foals.
