ORHA Youth ...

ORHyA Presidents Message

The ORHyA youth are back again for another great year. So far this season, O.R.H.A. members have displayed great enthusiasm for the sport of Reining with scores that make even the most experienced rider smile, and their dedication to the youth continues outside the show ring.

The ORHyA will be holding fundraisers at the July 17th ORHA show at Meaford - for example, the premiere of the highly successful Penny Challenge that was introduced last year and a 50/50 draw. All proceeds will go towards the youth.

Here’s how the Penny Challenge works:
- Youth 13 and under and Youth 14 to 18 have two separate containers
- For each penny deposited in the containers, that container’s team is awarded one point
- However, any silver coins added (nickels, dimes, quarters) are deductions (-5, -10, -25).
- Any toonies, loonies, or bills are considered donations to the ORHyA youth and are not counted either way in the Challenge itself

So join in and watch the fun as pennies are brought in and the youth wait anxiously to see who wins the Challenge. And help you and your horse, as well as the ORHyA, by taking advantage of our paid warm ups or participate in the 50/50 draw and win some extra money. A win, win for all.

A Great ORHyA Show Season!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for a great 2009 show season!

Thanks to all the Youth who worked so hard this year, not only to show their horse but to work before and after to raise funds for the Youth programs. Special thanks to the three hard working girls who helped make my job much easier, Vice President Melia Blakely, Secretary Taylor Mariani and Past President Rebecca McAtee. Funds raised by the Youth go to Year End Awards, Varsity Club and the Education Fund.

Special Thanks to all the show Managers who allowed the Youth to hold their Fundraisers at the shows. Your support for the ORHA Youth is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to all who met this year’s goals!
Best of Luck to all going forward in the years to come!

And the Winner is…
The draw for the western print the Youth were raffling off was made at the banquet Saturday November 7, 2009. The lucky recipient was Cindy Steele from Kingston, ON. Congratulations!

Thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket and supported the ORHA Youth. Special thanks to Molly Stevens who not only donated the print, she was also the photographer and the designer. What an awesome job!

Enjoy the picture Cindy!
